Etta Heber

Executive Director, CJS

Etta Heber, a career educator in both formal and informal public education, joined the CJS staff as Executive Director, in October 2014. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley, Etta earned a master’s degree in education from California State University, Sonoma, and holds both a Standard Teaching and Administrative Services credential. She has been the Principal Investigator on numerous federal and foundation grants, and a co-author on several publications. Rory Katz

Assistant Program Director, Antisemitism Education Initiative

Rabbi Rory Katz is the Assistant Program Director of the Antisemitism Education Initiative. She is the grandchild of refugees from Nazi Germany and has been passionate about antisemitism education her entire life. Prior to joining the CJS, she served as the spiritual leader of Chevrei Tzedek Congregation, a Conservative Synagogue in Baltimore. She was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary where she also received a Certificate in Pastoral Care, and she also holds a BA in Philosophy from Vassar college. Jennifer Lipscomb

Program and Communications Coordinator

Jennifer coordinates all aspects of academic scheduling for Jewish Studies courses, as well as public events planning and marketing. She has been part of the UC community since 2001, managing communications for numerous departments and initiatives. A graduate of Macalester College, Jennifer also holds secondary teaching credentials in Art and English.
