UC Berkeley’s Antisemitism Education Initiative provides consulting services, general “Antisemitism 101” trainings, and customized trainings focused on specific sub-topics relevant to antisemitism in higher education settings, nonprofits, and corporate environments. We can tailor trainings for specific audiences (ex: at universities, we can focus the training for DEI staff, student affairs staff, faculty, students, etc.).
Our Antisemitism 101 trainings include discussions of the following key questions:
1. What is the scope of antisemitism today?
2. What is Judaism, and who are the Jewish people?
3. How do we define antisemitism?
4. How old is antisemitism and anti-Judaism, and how does it operate today and historically?
5. How does intergenerational trauma inform Jewish communities and individuals?
6. Are Jews white?
7. What’s the connection between Jews and Israel? Is it antisemitic to criticize Israel? Is anti-Zionism antisemitic?
8. Where do we go from here? Best practices for improving the climate on your campus or at your organization.
Scope of trainings:
● Duration: Single-session Antisemitism 101 trainings can be from 60-120 minutes (90 minutes or longer is preferred). More focused or detailed trainings are generally longer, or spread across multiple sessions, depending on the needs of the campus and audience.
● Modality: Can take place in-person or virtually. In-person trainings are strongly preferred. We prefer not to do hybrid trainings with some audience members in person and others remote.
● Size: 5-50 people per session for in-person sessions (groups over 50 will be divided into sub-groups).
● After trainings, AEI staff are available as an ongoing resource, as needed.
