Alla Efimova, PhD, is a curator and art historian with a particular interest in the visual culture of modern Jewry. She holds a PhD in Art History/Visual and Cultural Studies from the University of Rochester. Before coming to the Judah L. Magnes Museum, Alla was Associate Curator at the University of California Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive along with being a former lecturer at the University of California Berkeley’s Department of Art History.

Julie Franklin
Exhibitions Coordinator
Julie Franklin has been working in the arts for the last twenty-two years including experience in the Bay Area as the Director of the California Crafts Museum and the Registrar at the Treasure Island Museum, The Mexican Museum, and the San Jose Museum of Art. Julie holds a Master’s degree in Museum Studies with a specialization in Collections Management and Exhibition design from San Francisco State University.
Eva Gurevich
Programs Coordinator
Eva Gurevich is the Programs and Events Coordinator at The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. She is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute in Photography. Along with acting as the Curatorial assistant, Facility Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Office Assistant at the Magnes, Eva is also the Gallery Coordinator at the Contra Costa JCC in Walnut Creek.
Lara Michels
Archivist
Lara Michels, PhD, is an archivist and historian with a special interest in increasing public access to and awareness of archival and library collections. She has a master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (2002) as well as an M.A. in Women's Studies and a Ph.D. in Comparative History from Brandeis University (2000).
Francesco Spagnolo
Curator
Francesco Spagnolo, is a multidisciplinary scholar focusing on Jewish studies, music and digital media. He received a PhD from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has taught at the University of Milan (Philosophy dept.) and at UC Santa Cruz (Music and Literature depts.) along with other lectures and involvement in conferences on music, Jewish studies, and digital media at academic institutions worldwide.
